I genuinely believe one of the number one reasons why most never leave Sioux Falls or its surrounding towns and why the city keeps growing is because of Falls Park, its beauty, and the overall vibes.
There's nowhere else like it and no other city can compete with it. Well, besides Madison Square Garden but who is moving to New York in 2025? They are all moving to Sioux Falls.
Falls Park is a place where people get engaged, where graduation pictures are taken, where fundraisers thrive. And where people like you and I can enjoy nature.
There are trails and greenways.
In winter, the icicles form mystically on the bridge.
You hold hands for the first time, walking along the water.
You get all of your steps in while climbing the eagle watch tower, and your eyes feast on the view at the top.
Your soul feels alive watching the movement. The dancing water, chattering birds, and the multitude of people.
I once assisted in the event of a lifetime at Falls Park. A friend of mine proposed to his now wife there, and that is a memory I hold dear.
In short Sioux Falls Crew, Falls Park is why most people never leave and why we keep growing. Take that Madison Square Garden!

Standing on the edge of a river that has carved its way through pink quartzite rock. The air is filled with the steady roar of water tumbling over cliffs, crashing into pools below. The mist rises, cooling your skin on a warm day. This is the Big Sioux River, the very heart of Sioux Falls.
Long before the city existed, this river was sacred ground for the Dakota, Lakota, and Nakota peoples. For thousands of years, it served as a natural highway, a place to fish, gather, trade, and tell stories passed from generation to generation.
You’re walking on land that has witnessed over 10,000 years of human history.
In present day, the Big Sioux River has not been treated with as much dignity as it was previously. A year ago, the city of Sioux Falls discharged almost 32 million Gallons of partially treated wastewater into the river.
With this being said, The Falls are maintained incredibly well and are now a sought after tourist attraction, especially in the winter months when The Falls is clothed in Christmas Lights from branch to branch.
It's the one place to always visit just because.
And that my friend, is why no one leaves Sioux Falls and why we keep growing as a city.
When you live near Falls Park, you feel alive each time you're around it. And you feel connected to the people around you so you know for a fact that it's home.
